Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, two former FBI agents are called again when in Virginia some young women vanish in a mysterious manner. Pater Joe who has visions of what has happened leads them to one of the bodies. Although both agents have closed their past this case pulls them back into their time as X-Files investigators.

The X-Files German Cover"X-Files" are called the unsolved cases of the FBI, that stand in the context of the paranormale and inexplicable phenomenons like Aliens or UFOs. The two agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully try to bring light into the darkness of the cases. Mulder believes in the paranormale since his sister Samantha was abducted an the age of eight by aliens. His partner Agentin Scully, a doctor, is against it and tries to find rational explanations for the mysterious cases. Furthermore, her task consists of documenting Mulders's work and to report everything, which seem suspiciously to her in any manner. Dark figures of the government, lead by the "cigarette-smoker", try to intervene in their investigations.

During the investigation of a mysterious bomb attack at an office building in Dallas FBI special agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully are drawn into the most dangerous conspiracy of their career. With the doubtfully help of a paranoid scientist they risk their life to destroy a deadly virus originating from outer space and which could destroy all life on earth. The search for the truth confronts Mulder and Scully with an immorally syndicate of mighty wirepuller doing anything to keep their secret. On the merciless hunt for the horrible virus the agents get from the cave in Texas via an FBI building eventually to a secret place at the Antarctic, which hosts the most unbelievable of all secrets.
