My photographs

I am very passionate about photography. Most of the times any one of my cameras accompanies me wherever I go. It is not so much I want to bother people, but most of the times you run into beautiful landscape settings such as double rainbows or funny looking skies that only last for minutes before the magic is gone. I missed tons of opportunities and that's why a camera is my constant companion now. Whether I am good at it or not I cannot tell. I only know that I cannot live without doing those shots and that I am never satisfied with the outcome.

While travelling there are four things I cannot resist, even if it takes a big detour to get to them. I do it. There were occasions when I had to get from A to B at a distance of about 200 miles and I ended up driving 500, just because one of those signs had pointed me either to a waterfall, a lighthouse, a cave or ancient buildings & tombs. For the UK I have become a member of the English heritage organization for England and the National Trust for Scotland and now Northern Ireland. Unlike in Germany, where the state or the government puts the money in maintaining worthwhile subjects, in the UK it is a private matter and done by donations alone.

When I was younger my pictures of people were like loads of surrounding and a tiny dot in the middle one could not recognize as being a person. Reason for that was that I was too shy to go up to people snapping pictures. That has changed a lot when I attended my very first movie premiere, which was picture-technically-speaking a disaster, but taught me that people actually do not bite. In fact nowadays I feel so secure that I am constantly asked to do the wedding pictures for friends, neighbours and colleagues. Those you'll find of course not on this site.
