Here it was the big warming up for the Sweeney Todd premiere. A little wet from above paired with an icy wind, but truly relaxed.
This I thought was a good opportunity to try the self-made rain-cover for the camera (garbage plastic bag with hole attached to camera body with duct-tape). It works fabulously and is quickly assembled.
There was only one main act to attend the premiere aside director Mike Nichols (he did btw the Graduate): Tom Hanks. In good mood he started to make fun with the media and the fans.
I was certainly surprised when he unravelled a fan scarf of the football club (now that is soccer for my American friends) Aston Villa from his neck only to hold it towards the mob of photographers. What does Tom Hanks have to do with Aston Villa? An American and football (soccer)? Strange!
The riddle got solved the following Friday when I watched the talk show Friday Night with Jonathan Ross.
Once Tome Hanks had seen a game on the telly and decided they should become his club. He liked the name, liked the game as well as the club’s colours. And besides anyone could be a fan of Chelsea, so he was not.
Always when there is only one actor at a premiere, the poor person has to quarter himself. To serve the media and the fans alone is simply not simple. Thus Tom Hanks tried very hard to write as many autographs as possible while also giving as many interviews as possible. He couldn’t satisfy everyone.
During the premiere, actually even before, the organisers let run parts of the soundtrack, which I instantly loved.
Now I am the proud owner of the by James Newton Howard composed score.
Well, it is no secret that I have been collecting scores since I was nine years old.
